Historical Outline

1994

ASDI is founded as an interdisciplinary organisation.

1996

The first ASDI pilot study is conducted with 13 ICUs participating. The original ASDI data set is revised and consequently the “ASDI ICU data definitions” are established.

1997

The first version of the documentation software ICdoc lite is developed and distributed to approx. 80 ICUs. The Austrian Ministry of Health introduces the obligatory documentation for intensive care units and uses the ASDI data score as its basis.

1998

ICdoc is developed further and – as ICdoc pro - used in more than 110 ICUs.

1999

Membership increases to 120 intensive care units. Start of the ASDI benchmarking project.

2000

The first foreign member (from South Tyrol, Italy) joins ASDI.

2001

ICdoc is expanded through the integration of a new module for the documentation of parenteral and enteral nutrition.

2002

Another additional module for the documentation of nosocomial infections is integrated.

2003

The study “Surveillance of nosocomial infections in intensive care” is conducted by 35 ICUs participating. In cooperation with Prof. Dr. Heinz Burgmann (Department for Infections and Chemotherapy of the Medical University of Vienna), a concept for infection surveillance is developed.

2004

The preliminary results of the nosocomial infection study are presented and discussed in several meetings. ICdoc is further enhanced through the integration of new functions.

2005

After more than 2 years of statistic evaluation of the SAPS 3 data, finally the SAPS 3 Admission Score is accepted for publication in the journal „intensive Care Medicine “.

2006

On the occasion of 10 years ASDI we are holding a meeting in the famous "Museumsquartier" in Vienna.

2007

Another additional module for the documentation of burn care is integrated.

2008

New build workgroup for discussion and definition on indicators for Quality improvement.

2009

The quality indicators project was developed intensively.

2010

The European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM) certifies ASDI Benchmarking as one of the leading European benchmarking programs. The ASDI Benchmarking is the first pre-accredited and recommended benchmarking in Europe.

2011

15 years quality assurance with ICdoc

2012

Completion of a project agreement with the Styrian Hospital mbH (KAGes) on the evaluation of the data of the Styrian ICUs.

First presentation and discussion of the data of the Vienna ICUs in the commission of the Vienna Hospital Association (WKAV) October.

2013

Presentation of the first analysis of the Styrian ICUs (February 2013).

Development of new reporting forms for the now over 120 ICUs which are represented in the reports.

2014

 

Revision and extension of the ASDI Quality-Indicator-Reports©. Appointment of the first honorary member.

2015

Award of Honorary Membership to Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wilfred Druml as well as the Award of Excellence to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Reinhard Krepler as appreciation for his continuous efforts in improving the treatment and care of critically ill patients.

2016

20 years quality assurance with ICdoc. Award of Honorary Membership to Univ.-Prof. Dr. Kurt Lenz.

2017

 Develompment of the new Report: "Indicators for Nosocomial Infections"

2018

Award of Excellence to Dr. Robert Griessner and award of Honorary Membership to Dr. Herbert Vesely.

2020

The annual ASDI Meeting will be held as a webinar for the first time.

Due to the situation with COVID-19 infections in intensive care units, ICdoc supplemented with COVID-19 fields.

2021

25 years quality assurance with ICdoc. The ASDI download area will be converted to user-specific passwords, to further increase the security of data. Puplication of a separate Covid-report.

2022

For the first time more than 50 registrations for the ICdoc training as a webinar, the concept will be further expanded. Another federal state joins with its hospitals ASDI (again).
